We hope you are enjoying yourself during this nice, cold summer!              Balance Beam, Balk, Kladina, Trave

What can you do? Let us blame Global Warming for it ….no??

Speaking of warming, Panthers would like to wish a warm Welcome to all our

new recreational, pre-competitive and competitive gymnasts and their families.

We would also like welcome our new Competitive coach, Shannon Good.

We have a few coaches that are moving on in life to different spheres. Panthers would like to sincerely thank the following coaches for all their dedication, passion, positive impact, and contribution they have made to our excellent programs.

  • Krista Carter (National Stream).
  • Diane Gregoire (Compulsory level)
  • Sarah Kyrylchuk (Level 1 & 2)

All started as gymnasts many years ago then became excellent coaches.

Sarah, Diane and Krista, you will be missed and all of us at Panthers would like to wish you the best in your future endeavours.  Remember though, you are still on our coaches replacement list and just a phone call away in case we need you!!! he he he!

Once a coach…always a coach! As they or …we like to say!

Congratulations to Jholeen Ponce and Ashlee deLeeuw who were able to secure their University gymnastics scholarships in the States.  Jholeen is going to Bowling Green University in Ohio while Ashlee will be going to Boise Idaho. Good luck with your gymnastics…We will be supporting you from this side of the border.

Panthers competitive gymnasts are getting ready to perform at the Winnipeg Blue Bomber’s half time show on August 26th. Last year was simply amazing…So will this year! Feeling the power of the crowd is an experience of a life time.

Don’t miss it!

Change to Assessments.
Panthers is a non-profit, parent run organization.  In order to provide
high level coaching at reasonable prices, Panthers must supplement it's
budget through fundraising.  Last year Panthers experimented with a
non-assessment based fundraising campaign where rebates were offered
based on fundraising generated.  That plan was not successful and has
left the club with a deficit due to the lack of participation in last
year's fundraising campaigns and reduced contributions resulting from
the rebates.  In order to reduce that deficit, Panthers must reinstate
the fundraising assessment for the 2004/2005 season.  Details of the
assessments are found in the registration brochure and handbook.

Rebates from Last Year.
When the rebate program was conceived last year, the administrative
burden of fulfilling the program was not anticipated so in order to
streamline the program, Panthers is proposing the following.  Any
rebates earned for 2003/2004 will be credited to members either as a
reduction to their 2004/2005 fees or their 2004/2005 assessments. You
will receive a letter detailing your entitlement for last year and are
asked to select your preferred method of credit and return to the office
at Panthers so that you can be properly credited.

New Initiatives

Commencing in September, we will be starting some new fundraising
campaigns including chocolates and Show and Save cards.  In addition,
we have healthy snacks of TCBY frozen yogurt available in the gym.
There will be further fundraising opportunities communicated as we
Women's Gymnastics Icon
progress through the year.

Hospitality and Vice President’s Report

Jennifer Bewski

Hard to believe summer is almost over and summer camp is well under way. I would like to welcome back all our Panther families and extend a warm Panther welcome to all our new families.  The 2004/2005 season is off to an exciting start with the Blue Bomber Half-Time Show on August 26 and the Bud, Spud & Steak night on October 1st.  Also new for this year will be the Canteen.  The Canteen will be open every Saturday that there are classes.

Keep watching the foyer window for sign up sheets and updates.  Also keep following the website.  The best way to ensure you don’t miss anything is to provide Sandra with your current email address.  Emails just don’t get lost as easily as notes in the gymbag.  The 2004/2005 handbook should be ready by late August with all the updates.

Good Luck Jholeen and Ashlee with your university adventures!  A big thank-you and we’ll miss you to Sarah, Diane and Krista.
