Welcome to a new and exciting season 2005-2006 !

Exciting…because In 2006 the club will celebrate its  40th  year of excellent service to the community!!! We will be celebrating it at our Fabulous Year end display !

Summer Training:

Our competitive gymnasts and team coaches are training hard for this upcoming season. The National level girls will be facing new challenges this year as they will need to adjust to the new requirements of the new international code of points and the new rules set by Gymnastics Canada.

The New National Coach came to Panthers this summer and worked with the Provincial team members … Thank you Claude Pelletier for your great insight !

Equipment:

Thanks to the gymnasts that raised money during the Gym-a-thon, we were able to purchase some new equipment: (already in or waiting for delivery)

-Air tumbling strip        $ 3000.00

-3 beam recovery kits  $  800.00

-1 Safety mat              $   600.00

-1 Sting mat                $   500.00

-1 bar rail                     $   400.00

-New Velcro                $   600.00 (for the floor)

-fixing equipment …

Pit:

As soon as we can, we will be replenishing the pit with more foam cubes.

This is one of the reasons why we have added a small equipment fee ( replacing the gym-a-thon) to all gymnasts registrations since all use the equipment…

Nationals:

Congratulations to Jade Griffiths, National Open Bronze medallist on Floor Exercise !

Excellent artistry…and super clean routine !!!

Nutrition:

Panthers believes in good nutrition, this is why we endorse the excellent Canadian Food Guide that can be found in our website on the “links” page. Healthy eating everyone !!!

Thank You:

We would like to thank the Board of directors for this past season’s accomplishments and challenges overcome…Great job !

Thank you to all the volunteers as well… Without you, it would be impossible !!!

Thank you to all the coaches for their constant effort and caring of our gymnasts.

Provincial team members retiring :

Alexandra Regier, Junior High Performance

Robyn Smith, National Open

Thanks for representing the club at Nationals and plenty of other competitions.

You are an inspiration to all !

Both will return as coaches as they are happy to give back to the sport that has given them so much !

Reminder

Some of the gymnasts have severe NutAllergies.

Panthers encourages all gymnasts and parents to

bring only nut free snacks to the gym.

Did you know…

Panthers is turning 40

in 2006  !!!

We are the Oldest Gymnastics Club in Manitoba !!!

40 Years of Excellence !!!

President’s Report

Jennifer Bewski

Panthers has managed to put yet another successful competition season under its belt.  Congratulations to all the Coaches & Gymnasts who were great Panther ambassadors at the many competitions & displays throughout the 2005 season.

Panthers hosted 3 competitions this past year, the Regional meet in January, MB Open Championships/Frontier Toyota Invitational and Wendy’s Invitational.  Throughout these competitions it was abundantly clear that Panther Parents are fantastic volunteers.  Thank you to the all of you who helped out whether it was for competitions, fundraising activities, Pantherama, building/grounds maintenance or any of the other multiple tasks that posted.

Thank you to Robert, Des, Leslie, Sandra, Coaches, Gymnasts and all the many volunteers that made Pantherama a night of awesome entertainment! What a great start for a new tradition.

Thank you to all the board members and Panthers staff who have put many hours in over the year making the club tick.

A few other notable achievements from June:

- Jade Griffiths brought home a Bronze Medal for Floor from Nationals

- 7 out of the 13 team members were from Panthers; Toni Montanti, Robyn Smith,

Jade Griffiths,  Charissa MacLeod, Lindsay Mirecki, Melissa Clark and Gabrielle May.

- Helene Desmarais was elected be the MGA Women’s Technical Chairperson for another term.

Summer camp is now well underway which means the start of another year. Keep watching the foyer for updates for volunteers needed.  Also keep watching the bulletin board and check the website for updates on the AGM date and upcoming fundraisers.

Fundraising

Change to Assessments.
Panthers is a non-profit, parent run organization.  In order to provide
high level coaching at reasonable prices, Panthers must supplement it's
budget through fundraising

New Initiatives

Chocolates will be a mandatory fundraiser with a separate cheque

Required up front this year.  Additional boxes may be sold and will go

toward the remaining portion of your fundraising commitment.

Chocolate cheques will be post-dated for October to give everyone

a chance to sell their allotment first.  Watch for updates coming soon.

Volunteer

Leslie Carey

Welcome back everyone!

Last year was an awesome year for volunteers.

Panthers is a parent run organization and depends on volunteers to run the gym smoothly and safely.  Last year 1180 hours were worked off towards competitions, Tag Day, Fundraisers, Pantherama year end display and miscellaneous maintenance in and around the gym.

For all of the competitive, Pre-Competitive and Regional parents we have lots of opportunity  available now to work off your volunteer hours.  Watch for the list on the window inside the front foyer.

If you have any suggestions or ideas feel free to contact me at the gym or leave a dated note in my mailbox located near the office.

Bingo

 Teresa Montanti

Reminder, it is very important to show up 15minutes early for your Bingo shift.  We cannot have any no-shows!  No-shows will result in Panthers losing their Bingo allotments which equals lost revenue. If you have any questions please contact Teresa Montanti.
