Desmarais Competitive Season is already underway… On December 9 and 10, two of our finest competed at Elite Canada to
try to become high performance gymnasts. Our Congratulations to Melissa and
Gabrielle! They did it !!! Tuesday,
December 13 our Junior Panthers, levels one through four, completed their first
skills competition this year. Congratulations to all !!! On Sunday, December 18, our regional competitive gymnasts got their
first taste of competition at the Candy
Cane Classic, a preparation meet for the Manitoba Games. Results can be
found on our website. In house meet January 29th, Our Provincial and
National streams gymnasts will have the opportunity to “break the ice” for
the competitive season by presenting their routines in a “low stress” setting during our in-house
competition, the Panthers Intra-Meet.
Good luck
to all! Many
volunteers were needed to ensure these competitions were successful. Thank you to
all the volunteers who helped us … Other competitions are on the way… Help
maintain Panthers Gymnastics’
reputation for its well-organized competitions in Manitoba. Get involved and work off your required
volunteer hours!

Pantages Year End Display To add to the
excitement, it is Panthers Gymnastics’ 40th Anniversary. What a milestone to reach! We should all be very proud to be a part
of it. Watch for upcoming details of
ways to wear or show your Panther Pride. I wish all of you a Safe and Happy
Holiday Season! Vice - President’s Report Adrian
May Hello one and all. Welcome to another exciting year at
Panther's Gymnastics.
I am starting my second year as
Vice-President at Panthers Gymnastics.
I am still learning but I am willing to help out where needed and
answer any questions I can when asked.
I was happy to see a good turnout at the
Annual General Meeting, which speaks well to the interest level of the
parents and their willingness to get involved in the operations of our club
this year. As most of you are aware,
the board of directors consists of parents of Panthers gymnasts. This board is a very small segment in the
grand picture of Panthers Gymnastics.
For continued success, we need the input and assistance of our coaches
and staff, gymnasts, parents, relatives, friends and any and all volunteers
and sponsors. Already this year, I
have noticed a higher level of involvement from parents. I hope this continues as our competition
and fundraising season starts in December.
Corporate sponsorship is another piece
that will help guarantee the continued success of our club. Advertising is
available at the gym and in the newsletters to these sponsors in return for
their support. Please see Sandra in the office for full details.
I hope to see and meet as many of you as possible
throughout the year. I look forward
to seeing all our gymnasts keeping fit and having fun.
Some of the gymnasts
have severe NutAllergies. Panthers encourages
all gymnasts and parents to bring only nut free
snacks to the gym.
Miracle Bears For every bear sold, the seller’s
name was entered in a draw held Sunday, December 18, for a prize. The Winner was Haley Watts. CRAZY 8’s GIFT and PARTY STORE at 14A – 963 Henderson Highway is offering a fundraising
opportunity for members of Panthers Gymnastics. From now until December
31, 2005, any purchase at the store will result in 20% of the purchase
(before taxes) being credited to your family’s fundraising account. The store will track all purchases by
Panthers members (or their friends, grandparents, etc.) and forward payment
of the 20% value to your family’s fundraising account at Panthers.
Volunteer Leslie Carey We have had a
fantastic start to the year so far with still lots to do.
Currently we
have 107 gymnasts with volunteer assessments totaling 1,284 hours.
Watch for new Volunteer Sign up sheets on the Foyer
window The MGA held a TAG DAY on October
8th. Panthers Gymnastics
participated in this fundraiser at one location with 12 gymnasts and five
volunteers participating. Thank you
to all of you! The gym made
approximately $700.00! Panthers Gymnastics is hosting
three competitions this year and two in-house Junior Panther competitions. We
will need many volunteers to make them successful. Volunteers are needed for a variety of tasks, including; set-up
and take down the equipment, admissions, silent auction and 50/50 ticket
sellers, canteen sales, and scorekeepers and timers. Being involved is a lot of fun. Watch for the volunteer sign-up sheets as
the dates approach the competitions. REMINDER:
Please
complete your VOLUNTEER ASSESSMENT FORM after each task to ensure your time
is credited to your volunteer assessment. If you have
any comments, questions, or suggestions please feel free to contact me at the
gym or leave me a dated note in my mailbox in the lobby.
Bingo Teresa Montanti Bingos have
been filling up nicely this year. Keep watching the bulletin board for new
sign-up
sheets.
REMINDER
that we cannot have NO-SHOWS!!! If
you can’t make your shift please contact Teresa
Montanti. Missed Bingos result in lost revenue to the Club.
A huge THANK YOU to the
following sponsors who through sponsorship and prize donations helped make
our Candy Cane Classic competitions a success.
Congratulations to Gabrielle May and Melissa Clark for
attaining Novice High Performance Status at Elite Canada!
