About our Club
Panthers Gymnastics has entered
its 44th year coaching recreational and competitive gymnasts. The Club has been in its current
location since 1990 and currently has a total of 600 children and adults
training at the facility. Coaches’ Corner
The competition season is in full swing. The calendar of
events is posted at the gym. We keep on updating it as we go along with
the latest information we receive. Also, all the Competition schedules
are posted on our billboard outside of the office. Our Snowflake
invitational was a great success again this year. We would like to thank all
our Volunteers, our Sponsors, our Board and our Coaches for their efforts… It
would simply be impossible without the help of all! We do it for the
kids! And they did great! We are hosting the
Manitoba Open Championships in Late March and the Tumbling and Trampoline
Provincials in Mid April. We will need your support there too! In mid-June we will
have our Pantherama, which is our last event of the season. This is our own
Marquee event at Pantages Theatre and we will need a lot of help to make it a
successful event as usual!!! Congratulations to
Emily Blackner and Gabrielle May, who earned High Performance status. They
are part of the long lasting excellence the club has established over the
years. We also have 7
Provincial team members in our ranks and we should soon have some more. Congratulations to
all the girls who participated in the Manitoba Games Trials… Panthers is
sending 3 coaches and approximately 12 athletes… When all the trials are
done, we will have a posting about it on our website. Keep Looking! Finally, we would
like to wish good luck to our gymnasts for the upcoming competitions… Keep up
the great work! Be proud! It is an honour and a privilege helping you to
achieve your goals! You inspire us! Parents, you have
great kids …Enjoy their prowess and the fact that they are part of a big
family, a great sport! Let’s just support them for who they are! From the President
Hello Gymnasts,
Parents, Family and Friends of Panthers. Welcome to our
first Panthers e-newsletter and I hope everybody is enjoying the New Year so
far. We have had newsletters in the past but this is our new and modern
format that I hope reaches more homes and more eyes. When I was
elected as Panthers President almost 2 ½ years ago, I identified
one of my top priorities as communication. I have strived to see both our internal and
external communications improve. In my term, I have seen improvements to our
website, including parent access to check Fundraising and Volunteer
commitments; a viewing room TV for messages, updates and advertising; TV ads
on CBC during the Olympics; boulevard signs; and now this year e-bulletins
and now our e-newsletter are being
introduced. There is always
room for improvement and I continue to stress both positive and constructive
messages in our club. Let us all do
our best to remain encouraging so that our gymnasts can reflect our good
parental examples. As always, I am
available to speak with anyone who has concerns or suggestions, but please
strive to resolve minor conflicts with your child’s coach or our nationally
recognized head coaches, Helene and Robert. Happy Tumbling to all our gymnasts in the coming months and good luck in all of their upcoming training and competitions. Thank you also to our Board secretary Tina for initiating our e-newsletter. January Events
Snowflake Invitational - Panthers
had a very successful Snowflake Invitational competition for regional and
competitive gymnasts, along with Trampoline and Tumbling. Fifty percent of the admission at the event was donated to
Haiti Relief care of the Mennonite Central Committee. It added up to just
over $2000.00
Nutrition Seminar - Debbie
Dryden, a Human Nutritional Sciences student from the Bingo Policy Changes
Unfortunately, the Club has had several instances where
parents have not shown up at bingos or have given insufficient notice of not being
able to attend. This makes it difficult to find a replacement or fulfill our
bingo requirements with the As such, effective January 12, 2010, the Board has made
important changes to the bingo policy as follows: "All persons cancelling a
scheduled bingo commitment must provide the Bingo Coordinator with a minimum
of 48 hours notice. Failure to do so will result in an immediate $150.00 fee
being imposed on the person failing to provide the required notice. This fee
will not absolve your required bingo assessment for the year." Please take steps to ensure you give sufficient notice of cancellation to avoid the cancellation fee. Fundraising
February’s fundraiser is a line of jewellery by lia sophia. There will be a three day display of
jewellery. Panthers will receive 40% of the total sales. The catalogue can be
viewed online at www.liasophia.ca Volunteers Needed
Parent Conduct
There have been some
unfortunate incidents involving parents and coaches at the gym. Signs were
posted in the gym as a reminder that at no time should situations ever
escalate into situations of disrespect. If there is an issue a parent wishes
to discuss, please bring it to the attention of the head coaches, Robert and
Helene.
